One of the most interesting young talents to have come out of the US in recent memory gets the dubstep treatment on his ridiculous lead single off his Domo Kun mixtape.
It’s interesting, I prefer the stripped back approach on the original though
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Too Short, I like Too Short, I fucking love Too Short.
Short Dog’s in the house, his guests on The Jacka’s Die Young, Mistah FAB’s “Sideshow Remix” are all great moments in His career.
It just seems he’s really quick to jump scenes/styles in the hope of a payday and it seldom works. Early 2000′s album he did in Atl. that was all Lil Jon..forgettable. His album around ’07 where he tried to get on the Hyphy bus… more so.
And this one
I’m all for rappers trying new shit. This isn’t trying new shit. This is trying to jump on a bandwagon with a derivative, boring, generic sound in the hope that you get paid. I’m not sure how this is a good move for him, maybe it’ll bore people into submission.
Was talking about this on twitter, always thought it was mac mall, not coolio. Mac Dre really shines on this. Ragging on lil Bruce for having a crippled Gran and being half asian. Radio Freestyle..? I’ve only ever heard/owned this exact recording so if anyone has a better qual. version hit me up.
Just thinking last night that Jeezy has been really quiet whilst he’s supposed to be working on an album.
Pretty interested in his new album, seems like he’s on some redemption arc, trapper turned ghetto prophet.
As annoying as Drama’s DJ drops are, Gangsta Grills at it’s peak WAS Jeezy and Drama so this could be ok, at least something to do on a monday morning Download From DatPiff
The beat is on some weirdly hypnotic shit. The Jacka doesn’t really do much on this one but it works on some smoked out tip that avoids showing up Waxx, cause there’s always that danger with a Jacka guest verse, he has a tendency to make other people on the track look amateur.
The interesting thing is that this is a gang rap track where they’re advocating calling the police. Maybe there’s been a paradigm shift, much like when Tony Montana/scarface has gone from meaning “gangsta” to “fake gangsta” over the last couple of years.
Southern hospitality put me on to Chase N. Cashe production last year. LEP Bogus Boys have made a few decent tracks + Videos without generating the kinda hype they deserve.
Recently I was stupid dumb sick. Like delirious. Spent a lot of time lying on my floor listening to space ghost purp and this guy.
Dude is is kinda cool. Can do good raps and manages top be a bit left of centre without it defining him. Definitely a breath of fresh air compared to some of the current crop. Harlem local.
